Stone Carving Classes
These classes are for discovering the pleasures of learning the processes of carving. They are suitable for both beginners and those who have had experience carving.
In these 5 days you can develop a feel for the art of carving stone, and how and when to use different tools and techniques, how to set out to achieve what you want when working with stone as a medium. You will finish with a unique carved piece and a wealth of practical experience. Tools and stone are provided. Everyone works at there own pace. the course is open to both beginners and those who have had experience carving.
The finished object is portable and air travel friendly, although it provokes head scratching at the security clearance if carried in hand luggage, my experience is that it is not viewed as a security hazard.
The classes include 3.5 hours teaching per day for 5 days
Tools, safety goggles and stone are provided
Stone carvers need to bring solid footwear and work clothes
Cost £200
Course Dates
As this a potential new venture for us at Manzac (but not Marlie, who has done lots of teaching!), but which we are nonetheless, very keen to pursue, we are very much 'testing the water' to assess the level of interest in such a course. At the moment, therefore, we don't have any specific dates for a stone carving course, but if this is something that you might be interested in doing, please could you contact us to let us know and we will do what we can to fix a mutually agreeable time and make the necessary arrangements. Certainly from 'hits' to this page on our website, there seems to be quite a bit of interest. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
